1st Bank Yuma was awarded as the Heart of Yuma winner in the category of Outstanding For-Profit Corporation by the Yuma Community Foundation on October 25, 2011. 
 
1st Bank Yuma has financially supported former Yuma resident and Olympian Jacquelyn Johnson with a full sponsorship to aid her in her ongoing Olympic dreams. It has also been a major financial sponsor for the Yuma Community Food Bank, and contributes $25,000 annually. In addition, bank employees man the phone lines for the YCFB “End Hunger Now” telethon each year.
 
The bank is also a major sponsor for the Arizona Western College Matador Athletic Association and all 6 Rotary Clubs of Yuma. They will be the major sponsor for the upcoming El Toro Bowl and also sponsor the Miss Yuma County Scholarship Pageant with a $2,500 donation.
 
In addition, Kathi Marcus, Sr. Vice President / Regional Manager for 1st Bank Yuma won the Heart of Yuma Award for Outstanding Volunteer on October 25, 2011. She serves on the Boards of the Yuma County Historical Society and the Arizona Historical Society and serves on the “Redondo Days” committee which is planning for the upcoming Centennial Celebration.
 
She served as past President of Habitat for Humanity from 2008 to 2010 while serving on their board for 8 years. She has also been involved with the Humane Society of Yuma where she served as board secretary.
 
Kathi spent 8 years on the board of the Territorial Chapter of American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) serving as the President from 2006 to 2008. As part of ABWA, she played a key role in establishing the women’s EXPO and awarding tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships to women in Yuma. She also represents Yuma bankers in the Arizona Women in Business organization.
 
The advisory board and the advisory council of the Yuma Community Foundation said they “join the rest of our community in thanking you for your service and for setting an example for others”. “You are our heroes.”
